Punjab Kings' (PBKS) captain, Shikhar Dhawan, will have to stay off the field for a week due to a shoulder injury. Punjab coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed this information. He stated that Dhawan might have to stay outside for more than a week. If he has to stay out for at least a week, he will miss two matches: against Mumbai Indians on April 18th and against Gujarat Titans on April 21st.
After losing the match against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, Punjab coach Sanjay confirmed in a press conference that Dhawan would be off the field for a few days. He mentioned that it could be for about a week.
He said, "He has a shoulder injury. So, he may have to stay outside for a few days. A seasoned opener like Dhawan, who has experience playing on this type of wicket, is crucial for any team."
"We'll wait and see how his treatment goes. It seems like he will have to stay off the field for at least 7 to 10 days."
During Dhawan's absence, Sam Karan will take on the responsibilities of captaincy. Karan has previously captained Punjab as well.
It's not very hopeful for Dhawan to do much in the IPL 2024. However, he still has the highest runs for Punjab. He has scored 152 runs at an average of 30.40 and a strike rate of 125.61 in 5 innings.
Punjab has faced pressure while opening the innings. They have lost 4 out of 6 matches played so far. Dhawan's opening partner, Jonny Bairstow, has failed to prove his capability. So, it's quite clear that the team is going through a tough time.
