Shakib Al Hasan will miss at least the first two matches of the Zimbabwe series on home ground. However, if he remains fit, he may return for the third T20 match in Chattogram.
Zimbabwe's cricket team is set to arrive in Bangladesh on April 28 for the five-match T20 series. Although BCB has not yet announced the squad for the upcoming series, 34 cricketers participated in the fitness tests for the Bangladesh team. Notably, Shakib Al Hasan was not among them.
Even though Shakib will return to the country before the start of the Zimbabwe series, he will be unavailable for the first two matches, according to sources from BCB. Shakib Al Hasan will play for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). However, if his fitness is good, he may join the third T20 match in Chattogram on May 7.
If not, Shakib will be available only for the last two matches of the series.
The first three T20 matches of the series will be held at Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on May 3, 5, and 7, respectively. The remaining two matches will take place at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on May 10 and 12.
