Shakib Al Hasan has dismissed rumors about representing the United States in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and has made it clear that he has no intention of applying for a U.S. Green Card. Speculation had been circulating that Shakib was seeking U.S. citizenship with plans to represent America in the future. However, the truth is, Shakib has not made such a decision.
Shakib has confirmed that he will not be pursuing a U.S. Green Card, nor will he play for the country in any capacity. There are uncertainties surrounding his future in international cricket for Bangladesh, but he remains firm in his decision not to play for any other country. Currently, Shakib is in the United States, enjoying quality time with his wife and children.
Shakib will participate in the online player transfer for the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. If all goes well, he will play for Legends of Rupganj.
In the 2023 World Cup, Bangladesh secured a vital win against Sri Lanka, thanks to Shakib’s performance, which helped the team qualify for the Champions Trophy. However, the team will now compete in the Champions Trophy without Shakib. Naturally, this has led to frequent discussions about Shakib's absence.
As the country’s all-time greatest cricketer faces significant questions about his international career, he had previously expressed his desire to retire through the Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, he will not be able to play in that tournament.
