The BCCI selection committee has picked Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana to travel to Zimbabwe for the first two T20Is of the five-match series. The trio have been picked as replacements for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
While Sudharsan has already made his debut in ODIs - in South Africa last year, Jitesh has played nine T20Is for India having made his debut in the Asian Games in 2023. Harshit, who had an impressive IPL with eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders, is uncapped at the international level.
Samson, Dube and Jaiswal were a part of the Indian squad that won the T20 World Cup on Saturday (June 29) and their departure to India from Barbados was delayed as a result of a Hurricane.
The BCCI has confirmed that the World Cup-winning trio will first travel to India with the rest of the members from the Caribbean before departing for Harare for the final three T20Is.
India have picked a fairly inexperienced squad for the five-match T20I series with Shubman Gill being named captain. The series will kickstart on July 6 and conclude on July 14 with all five games scheduled to be played at the Harare Sports Club.
