PCB says Multan and Rawalpindi to remain as venues for England Tests
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has put to rest any concerns regarding the England series by confirming that all the Test matches will be held in Pakistan. According to Naqvi, the series will be played at two venues: Rawalpindi and Multan. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has expressed its satisfaction with these venues.
In February next year, Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy, marking a significant event as it will be the first time in many years that ICC member countries will play in Pakistan. Preparations for this tournament are underway, including the renovation of stadiums. As a result, the Test series against Bangladesh was moved from Karachi to Rawalpindi.
Pakistan's team, led by Shan Masood, who suffered a whitewash against Bangladesh, is set to face England in a three-match Test series on home soil. The series is scheduled to begin on October 7, 2024, provided all arrangements proceed as planned.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has assured that the three-Test series against England will be entirely held in Pakistan, dismissing any speculation about moving the series elsewhere. The two confirmed venues for the series are Multan and Rawalpindi.
The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship. Pakistan’s team is currently on the back foot after losing a two-match series to Bangladesh. England is expected to arrive in Pakistan on October 2, with the first Test set to start on October 7.
