Pakistan Dominates Day 1 of Multan Test Against England

Pakistan took control of the first day of the Test match in Multan against England, finishing strong at 328/4, thanks to opener Abdullah Shafique’s century and a commanding 150-run innings from captain Shan Masood. Pakistan ended the day with four wickets down, although Babar Azam was dismissed just before stumps.

After a humiliating whitewash in their Test series against Bangladesh, Pakistan is now up against England. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the hosts lost opener Saim Ayub early in the innings. Saim scored just 4 runs before being caught behind off Gus Atkinson’s delivery.

Despite the early setback, Pakistan managed to score 122 runs in 25 overs in the first session, losing only one wicket. Post-lunch, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood formed a solid partnership, keeping Pakistan wicketless in the second session. Over 27 overs, Pakistan added another 110 runs.

Both Shafique and Masood reached their half-centuries before lunch, and after the break, Masood completed his century. Pakistan reached tea with 233 runs on the board. However, the final session saw the fall of three wickets. Abdullah Shafique, who hit his century in 165 balls, was dismissed for 102 runs.

Captain Shan Masood continued his aggressive form, reaching the 150-run milestone in just 166 balls. His stellar innings, which included 13 boundaries and 2 sixes, came to an end when he gave a return catch to Jack Leach, departing for 151 off 177 balls.

Babar Azam, who came in at number four, played cautiously but was dismissed for 30 in the final over of the day, trapped leg-before-wicket. Babar faced 71 balls before his departure.

Nightwatchman Naseem Shah faced three deliveries before stumps, while Saud Shakeel remained unbeaten on 35. Pakistan will resume Day 2 at 328/4, looking to build on their strong start.
