The Test and T20 series between Bangladesh and India will commence in India on October 19. Pacer Ebadot Hossain might travel with the team for this tour. Ebadot himself confirmed this news to the media at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Ebadot has been sidelined since July last year due to a knee injury. His injury has caused him to miss the ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup. Despite extensive efforts to recover, he has not yet returned to full fitness.
On Friday, Ebadot discussed his current injury status with the media at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, saying, "I am following the plan provided by the physio, trainer, and fast bowling coach. I have not yet been allowed to bowl at 100%. I am currently bowling at about 70-80%."
The chances of Ebadot playing in the India tour are quite slim. However, he might still be taken with the team: "I might be taken to India with the team. There, I will receive support for my bowling. I will get assistance from doctors, physios, and trainers. I will be under the team's observation. That might be the reason for taking me along. Once there, they will assess my fitness and decide based on that."
Ebadot is scheduled to play for Sylhet in the National Cricket League starting October 15. Regarding what will happen if he travels to India, Ebadot said, "I am eager to play. For that, I need to achieve full fitness. If my fitness improves sufficiently and the management is satisfied, and if I am given the chance to play in India, I will. If not, I will play domestic cricket."
Ebadot regrets not being part of the team that whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 on their home ground. However, he remains hopeful for better opportunities ahead: "Of course, I feel regret. I have been out of action for almost 13 months. I have had a long recovery from this injury. Being sidelined as a player is very difficult. I don’t think it will take much longer to recover. I will play and try to do well."
It is worth mentioning that Ebadot sustained the injury during the ODI series against Afghanistan last year. He had to undergo knee surgery the following month and has been out of action since then.
