Despite reports of India, Afghanistan, and Oman not attending, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting is set to go ahead as scheduled in Dhaka. The two-day meeting will be held on July 23 and 24 at the Hotel InterContinental, confirmed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul.
In a statement to the media on Monday, Bulbul said,
"The ACC meeting will take place on schedule. It is an ACC event, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board acting as the host. The entire arrangement is under ACC's jurisdiction, while we are providing local hospitality, accommodation, meals, and formal logistical support."
He further clarified that an informal session will be held on July 23, followed by the formal meeting on July 24, both at the InterContinental.
Bulbul had recently returned from attending ACC and ICC meetings abroad and confirmed the Dhaka arrangements shortly after arriving in the country on Monday afternoon.
There had been speculation surrounding the meeting's fate—particularly after India reportedly declined to attend. Several Indian outlets even suggested that Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Oman might also boycott the session. However, ACC Chairman and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi remained firm that the venue would not change, a position echoed by BCB's president.
“Who attends and who doesn’t is not Bangladesh’s concern,” Bulbul stated. “This is an ACC meeting, not a BCB or Bangladesh-led event. Our role is purely to host.”
Visa Facilitation for Delegates
The BCB is also working to ensure on-arrival visa facilities for attendees facing difficulties in obtaining prior visas.
"With limited time, not all delegates can obtain a visa in advance. Therefore, we've taken the responsibility to coordinate on-arrival visas with relevant authorities to ensure smooth participation," he added.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan is maintaining close contact with ACC officials and overseeing all logistical and operational aspects of the event.
Although India’s participation is uncertain, and while Sri Lanka and Afghanistan have expressed support, the ACC chairman has insisted on holding the meeting in Dhaka. Now, with the BCB president's confirmation, it’s clear that the ACC meeting will go ahead on schedule, regardless of which members attend.
