New Leadership for BSJA: Arifur Rahman Babu Elected President, S M Sumon as General Secretary
The Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association (BSJA) has formed a new Executive Committee for the 2025–26 term. The organization’s 20th biennial general meeting and election took place on Friday (April 18) in the capital. The meeting was presided over by former BSJA president A.T.M. Saiduzzaman, while the election results were announced by Chief Election Commissioner and senior BSJA member Md. Shafiqul Karim Shabu.
Arifur Rahman Babu of Jago News has been elected as the new President, while S M Sumon of Baishakhi Television has been elected as General Secretary. All 13 members of the Executive Committee were elected unopposed in this year’s election.
The elected Vice Presidents are Raihan Al Mughni (Bangladesh Television), Borshon Kabir (NTV), and Ariful Islam Rony (bdnews24.com). Arafat Zobayer (Dhaka Post) has been elected as Joint General Secretary, and Minhaj Uddin Khan (Dhaka Tribune) has taken the role of Finance Secretary.
The Executive Members elected are Majharul Islam Mithun (Independent Television), Majhar Uddin Ami (Freelancer), Jyotirmoy Mondol (Daily Jugantor), Rabiul Islam (Bangla Tribune), Yasin Hasan Rabbi (Risingbd), and Atif Azam (The Daily Sun).
