Kolkata Knight Riders Retain Maximum 6 Players at Lowest Cost for IPL 2025
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the defending champions in the Indian Premier League (IPL), have retained six players ahead of the 2025 season. This franchise, one of the most successful in IPL history, has managed to retain these players at a total cost of just₹69 crore.
The retained players include Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh, along with two overseas players, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine.
KKR spent ₹12 crore each to retain both Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, as well as Varun Chakravarthy. Rinku Singh was retained at the highest cost of ₹13 crore, while Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh were retained for ₹4 crore each.
After spending a total of ₹69 crore in retention, Kolkata Knight Riders have ₹51 crore remaining in their purse. They will not have any Right to Match (RTM) cards available in the IPL auction.
Notably, KKR did not retain their captain Shreyas Iyer, who led the team to the title last season. The franchise also chose not to consider retaining Mitchell Starc, Phil Salt, Venkatesh Iyer, and Nitish Rana.
