Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to a back injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the news on Tuesday, ahead of the mega event.
In the eight-team tournament, Bumrah will be replaced by Harshit Rana in India's squad. Additionally, Indian selectors have also added Varun Chakravarthy to the final squad in place of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was initially part of the squad.
When India's squad was initially announced for the Champions Trophy, Bumrah was part of the 15-member preliminary squad. Later, the selection committee chairman, Ajit Agarkar, had mentioned that Bumrah might be fit for the Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, that concern has turned into reality, and Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament.
The Champions Trophy will begin on February 19. Before this, each country must announce their final squad by February 12. India's major concern was only Jasprit Bumrah, who was not fully fit. Consequently, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's team will head into the Champions Trophy without Bumrah.
