Ishant Sharma Fined for Code of Conduct Breach in IPL Match vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
Delhi Capitals pacer Ishant Sharma has been fined 25% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
According to a statement from the IPL, Ishant was found guilty of Level 1 offence under Article 2.2, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match.” The veteran fast bowler accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Javagal Srinath.
In the match, Ishant had a tough outing, conceding 53 runs in 4 overs without taking a wicket. He was later substituted onto the field after 13 overs, replacing Sherfane Rutherford.
Ishant’s overall performance in the IPL 2025 season has been underwhelming so far. In three matches, he has bowled 8 overs, conceding 107 runs and picking up just 1 wicket.
Despite Ishant’s struggles, his team Gujarat Titans secured their third victory of the season, moving to second place on the points table. After losing their opening match to Punjab Kings, the Titans have bounced back strongly with three wins in four games.
