India Whitewash Afghanistan with Abhishek Sharmas Record-Breaking Century

India thrashed Afghanistan by a massive 127 runs in the third and final T20I of the series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With the victory, the hosts completed a dominant 3-0 series sweep over the visitors and claimed the series in commanding fashion.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India’s two openers launched an aggressive assault on the Afghan bowlers from the very beginning. Abhishek Sharma smashed his half-century in just 16 balls and reached his century off only 30 balls, setting a new record for the fastest T20I century among batters from Test-playing nations. He broke Rohit Sharma’s previous record of 35 balls. Abhishek’s explosive 108 off 34 balls featured nine fours and 11 sixes.

At the other end, Sanju Samson contributed a responsible half-century, while captain Shreyas Iyer scored 29 and Shivam Dube added 14. Their efforts helped India post a mammoth 222 for seven in 20 overs.

For Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai took two wickets, while Rashid Khan and Abdullah Ahmadzai claimed one wicket each.

Chasing a daunting target of 223, Afghanistan struggled from the outset as the Indian bowlers kept striking at regular intervals. Captain Ibrahim Zadran scored 25, Azmatullah Omarzai made 17 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 15, but no other Afghan batter could make a significant double-digit contribution.

For India, young pacer Nitish Kumar Reddy and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi picked up three wickets each. Axar Patel also bowled a disciplined spell, conceding just nine runs in three overs while taking two wickets.

Faced with India’s well-balanced pace and spin attack, Afghanistan were bowled out for just 94 in 14.1 overs. Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the Match for his record-breaking century, while India lifted the series trophy after completing a dominant 3-0 sweep.
