India is set to play two Test matches against Bangladesh at home this month. The BCCI has announced the 16-member squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, with wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant making a return to the Test team after a long absence.
The squad for the first Test, scheduled to be held in Chennai, includes Dhruv Jurel as the backup wicketkeeper for Rishabh Pant, following his impressive performances in the recent Test series against England.
Rishabh Pant, who made his international return during the World Cup after a severe road accident, will resume his Test career in the series against Bangladesh. Pant's last Test match was also against Bangladesh in 2022.
India will play their first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai starting September 19. Ahead of the Test, India’s red-ball players will begin their training at Chepauk on September 12. Similarly, Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s team is scheduled to start their practice at the same venue from September 15.
