After the ongoing Test series, India will play three T20 matches against Bangladesh. Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is making a comeback, showcasing impressive performances in the Duleep Trophy. To accommodate his return, the BCCI is likely to rest Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill, who have participated in consecutive Tests. The captaincy may fall to Suryakumar Yadav.
India's squad for the T20 series against Bangladesh will be announced later this week. With Rishabh Pant expected to rest, Sanju Samson is poised to be the BCCI's preferred wicketkeeper. Under Suryakumar Yadav's leadership, India will face Bangladesh in the T20 series.
Samson has a strong chance to reclaim his spot, especially with Ishan Kishan selected for the Irani Cup. Kishan will not participate in the Duleep Trophy match from October 1 to 5, which ends just one day before the first T20 against Bangladesh on October 6 in Gwalior. This means Kishan will not be part of India's T20 squad.
The BCCI is unlikely to pull a player from domestic matches for an international assignment, making Samson the likely first choice. Jitesh Sharma is expected to serve as the second wicketkeeper for the Indian T20 team.
In the recently concluded Duleep Trophy, Ishan Kishan scored 134 runs at an average of 33.50 across four innings, while Samson scored 196 runs at an average of 49 in his four innings. The big question remains: will these numbers be enough for Samson to erase the memories of his two ducks in the last two T20s against Sri Lanka in July?
The first T20 match is scheduled for October 6 in Gwalior, followed by matches on October 9 in New Delhi and October 12 in Hyderabad.
