Hardik Pandya Fined for Slow Over Rate in IPL 2025
Hardik Pandya Fined for Slow Over Rate in IPL 2025
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined ₹12 lakh for a slow over rate during his team’s match against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. This comes after he was unable to play in the opening match of the season due to a similar issue with slow over rates in the previous IPL season.
On Saturday (29 March), Hardik Pandya’s team, Mumbai Indians, played against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Due to the slow over rate, Hardik faced a financial penalty. Last year, he was also banned for one match after committing the same offense three times in the previous season.
This year, Hardik could not play in the first match against Chennai Super Kings due to the same reason. However, in the next match, he repeated the same mistake. Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians by 36 runs. Along with the loss, Hardik has been fined ₹12 lakh for the slow over rate violation.
In the ongoing IPL season, Mumbai Indians have lost both their first two matches. They lost the first match to Chennai Super Kings, in which Hardik Pandya was unavailable due to the suspension. In the second match, despite Hardik playing, Mumbai could not secure a win and were defeated by Gujarat Titans.
Mumbai Indians will face Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday at their home ground.
