Recently, the selectors were disappointed with Sri Lanka's performance in the concluded Test series. A new selection panel has been formed for Bangladesh cricket, led by Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, with Abdur Razzak and Hannan Sarkar. Gazi Ashraf spoke to the media today (April 5th). Despite expressing frustration with the disappointing performance in Test cricket, he also emphasized efforts towards improvement.

The primary responsibility of the new selectors was to form the Test team against Sri Lanka. Gazi Ashraf's panel fulfilled that duty. However, Najmul Hasan Shanto's team couldn't display any promising performance. Cricket viewers witnessed Bangladesh's feeble batting, lacking in skill, determination to score runs, and mental resilience.

Gazi Ashraf expressed disappointment, stating, "We are disappointed with the team's performance in Test matches. We hoped the team would show better competitiveness. The results were not in our favor. I have already said that we have tried to play on sporting wickets."

Efforts have been made to play on sporting wickets. Criticism persists concerning Mirpur. However, this time the matches were held in Sylhet and Chattogram to find weaknesses. Besides criticizing Bangladesh's poor performance, it also revealed the proximity of such cricketing abilities to excellence.

"Because we have to play abroad as well as in our country. To assess our abilities and weaknesses, the BCB has arranged such venues and wickets. We might be a bit disappointed, but our weaknesses have been identified," he said.

Many batsmen played big shots in crisis situations, which is not the temperament required for Test cricket. Gazi Ashraf also addressed this, saying, "Many have played shots without any temperament, which is not the batting style of Tests. Before Tests, there used to be preparation matches. We only have a slot for practice matches in the West Indies series ahead. Everyone is trying to end it quickly."
