England Complete 3-0 Series Sweep Over Pakistan

England defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the third and final Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham to complete a 3-0 series sweep over the visitors.

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Pakistan found themselves under immediate pressure from England’s pace attack. Josh Tongue claimed four wickets, while Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer took three wickets each as Pakistan were bowled out for just 133 runs. Saud Shakeel was their top scorer with 43 runs.

In reply, England piled up a massive 453 runs in their first innings. Harry Brook scored 75, Jamie Smith contributed 69, Dan Lawrence made 65, Emilio Gay added 60, while Ollie Robinson, batting at number nine, produced a valuable half-century, scoring 50.

Trailing by 320 runs, Pakistan made a remarkable comeback in their second innings. Shan Masood scored 95, Babar Azam made 76, while Rezaullah provided a late explosive charge with an unbeaten 81 off just 63 balls as Pakistan posted 449 runs.

Chasing 130 for victory, England found themselves in serious trouble in the very first over. With the team score on just two, both openers, Ben Duckett and Emilio Gay, were dismissed for ducks off consecutive deliveries by Mohammad Abbas.

However, Jordan Cox and experienced campaigner Joe Root steadied the innings and turned the match in England’s favour. The pair put together an unbeaten 128-run partnership to guide the hosts comfortably to the target.

Root remained unbeaten on 62, while Cox finished on 59 not out as England sealed an eight-wicket victory and completed a commanding 3-0 series triumph.
