Although Delhi Capitals have come close to winning the IPL (Indian Premier League), they have yet to taste victory. The team has started preparing for the 2025 IPL with dreams of winning the trophy for the first time. They have retained 4 players from last season.
The franchise did not retain their star player, Rishabh Pant. Instead, they retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhishek Porel, along with overseas player Tristan Stubbs.
Delhi Capitals retained Axar Patel for a whopping ₹16.5 crore. Kuldeep Yadav was retained for ₹13.25 crore. Retaining South African player Tristan Stubbs cost the team ₹10 crore, while Abhishek Porel was retained for only ₹4 crore.
After spending ₹47.75 crore on retention, Delhi Capitals have ₹73 crore remaining in their purse. They will have the benefit of two Right to Match (RTM) cards in the IPL auction.
Delhi Capitals did not consider retaining Rishabh Pant, David Warner, and Anrich Nortje, who were part of the squad last year.
If Delhi Capitals do not buy Rishabh Pant back in the IPL 2025 auction, they will need to find a new captain.
