Dale Steyn Steps Down as Bowling Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad
Dale Steyn has stepped down from his position as the bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The former South African pacer announced his decision on social media platform X.
In a tweet, Steyn expressed his gratitude to Sunrisers Hyderabad and confirmed that he will not be returning for the IPL 2025 season. He wrote, “I have been their bowling coach for the last few years in the IPL. A big thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Unfortunately, I will not be returning for IPL 2025.”
Although he will not be involved in the IPL, he mentioned that he will continue to work in the SA T20 league. “While I won't be in the IPL, I will continue my work with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa’s SA T20 league. I will strive to help the two-time champions win the title for a third consecutive time,” he added.
Dale Steyn took on the role of bowling coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021. Before his coaching stint, he had played in the IPL for the same franchise. However, he is not completely severing ties with Sunrisers, as he will still be part of their coaching staff in another league.
In the meantime, Sunrisers Hyderabad has appointed former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin as the pace bowling coach to replace Dale Steyn.
