BPL players' draft: player categories revealed
Ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) player draft, the shortlist of local players has been released. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has categorized a total of 188 local cricketers into six categories. A total of 12 cricketers will receive the highest salaries in the league, classified under category 'A'.
If all goes well, the 11th season of the BPL will kick off on December 27, with the player draft scheduled for October 14. The BCB has finalized the names of 188 local players across six categories for the draft. There are 12 players in both categories 'A' and 'B'.
Cricketers in category 'A' will receive a maximum salary of 6 million BDT, while those in category 'B' will earn 4 million BDT and those in category 'C' will get 2.5 million BDT. Salaries for categories 'D', 'E', and 'F' are set at 2 million, 1.5 million, and 1 million BDT, respectively.
Category 'A': Litton Kumar Das, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shoriful Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rishad Hossain, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahman, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Taskin Ahmed, and Towhid Hridoy.
Category 'B': Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Hasan Mahmud, Jaker Ali Anik, Mashrafe Bin Mortoza, Shamim Patwary, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, Tanvir Islam, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
The names of the seven franchises for the BPL have also been finalized. The new franchise Durbar Rajshahi will replace Comilla Victorians this season.
