Big loss for Tigers to Sri Lanka

Mominul's solitary battle turned futile for Bangladesh as Sri Lanka secured a significant victory. Chasing a target of 511 runs, Bangladesh stumbled, losing five wickets for just 37 runs. Mominul, carrying the burden alone, guided the team until the end of the day's play. Missing out on a century by just 13 runs, he departed unbeaten on 87 runs. The day ended with Bangladesh trailing by a massive margin of 328 runs.

After scalping three wickets in the first innings, Kasun Rajitha completed his five-wicket haul in the second innings, dismissing Liton Das. Bangladesh, who scored 188 runs in their first innings, collapsed to 182 in their second innings. Mominul Haque was the lone fighter, playing a gritty knock of 87 runs from 148 balls.

Facing the challenge with five wickets down and a score of 47 runs on the board, Bangladesh's hopes were shattered as Sri Lanka's success was limited to the wicket of nightwatchman Taijul Islam in the first hour of the morning session. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also fell shortly after, but Mominul continued his lone battle until the end of the session, taking the team to lunch.

Returning from lunch, Mominul resumed his innings with Shariful Islam as his partner. Together, they added 47 runs, with Shariful contributing 42 runs off 81 balls. After Shariful's dismissal, Kasun Rajitha completed his fifer by dismissing Khaled. Mominul's century quest was halted by Rajitha's exceptional bowling performance, which marked his 17th fifer in Test cricket.
