BCB Stands by U-18 Cricketer Mehedi Battling Cancer

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended its support to promising divisional youth cricketer Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, who has recently been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a form of blood cancer. During this difficult period, the country’s cricket governing body has stepped forward to help cover the cost of his medical treatment.

At a brief ceremony held today at the BCB Management Office in Mirpur, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque handed over a cheque worth BDT 500,000 to Mehedi’s father to support his treatment.

Among those present at the cheque handover ceremony were Israfil Khasru, Chairman of the BCB Finance Committee, and Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

BCB officials said that Mehedi Hasan Hridoy is regarded as one of the country’s promising young cricketers, and the Board is deeply saddened by his sudden illness. They reiterated that the BCB has always stood by talented young cricketers and will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure Mehedi receives the best possible medical treatment.

Mehedi’s family has been struggling to meet the high cost of his treatment. The financial assistance provided jointly by the BCB and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has brought significant relief to the family during this challenging time.
