Asif Akbar Shares His Dream of Becoming a Cricketer, Reveals Registration Image
Popular singer Asif Akbar once dreamed of becoming a cricketer in his youth. In fact, he had even registered as a cricketer. However, due to the realities of life, including his SSC and HSC exams, his dream of becoming a cricketer was never realized, and he went on to become a singer instead. Despite this, he has never forgotten his passion for cricket.
On Thursday, Asif Akbar shared a photo of his cricketer registration on his Facebook page and wrote a heartfelt post. The full post is as follows:
"I was immersed in the dream of becoming a cricketer during my youthful days. It was during the SSC exams that I had the opportunity to debut in the Dhaka League, but the board exams became an obstacle. To play in the Chittagong League as a player from Comilla, registration had to be done before Dhaka, and at that time, I had the chance to register with Bangladesh Airlines. Another year passed, and I played successfully in the Chittagong League for Birds Shipping Corporation. In the 91/92 season, the next obstacle came with the HSC exams. In 1992, I fell in love and got married.
Then, while pursuing my Honours degree, I had to abandon the struggle for establishment in Dhaka. Along the way, I lost my chance to join the Bangladesh Army as an officer and also the desire to do so. Years passed, spent in the struggle for education, family, and career establishment. I finally succeeded in music, but ironically, music is where I feel the weakest.
After many years, through my cricket-obsessed friend Asaf, I was able to find my cricketer registration number. After much effort, Asaf sent me my cricketer identity card on WhatsApp. Although my childhood dream of becoming a cricketer faded away, this little identity card has deeply moved me, and it feels like the greatest recognition in the world is now mine. My ID number in Bangladesh cricket is 3389. I am immensely grateful to my brother and friend Asaf. Even though we had long cricket discussions, we never took a photo together."
Asif Akbar's post not only reflects his deep-rooted love for cricket but also his journey through life, where dreams, challenges, and reality intersected.
