Abhishek Sharma's Record Century Levels Series for India
India leveled the series with Zimbabwe with a resounding 100-run victory in the second T20I, thanks to a record century from Abhishek Sharma. In Harare, India posted a formidable 234 runs in 20 overs, driven by Abhishek's explosive 100 off 46 balls. They then bowled out the hosts for just 134 runs.
The world champions had a rough start to the series, losing to Zimbabwe the previous night. Winning the toss and opting to bat, India set a high target of 234 for 2 wickets. Abhishek Sharma, playing in his second international T20 match, scored a brilliant century, supported by Ruturaj Gaikwad's 77 and Rinku Singh's rapid 48, both remaining unbeaten.
India's bowlers then dominated, with Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan taking three wickets each. Ravi Bishnoi also performed exceptionally well with the ball. Zimbabwe lost 4 wickets within the first 4 overs, putting them under immense pressure.
Wesley Madhevere scored the highest for Zimbabwe with 43 runs, and Brian Bennett quickly added 26 runs off 9 balls before Mukesh dismissed him, providing relief to the Indian camp. Apart from Luke Jongwe's 33 runs towards the end, no other batsman could put up a significant score, and Zimbabwe were bowled out for 134 runs within the allotted overs.
This comprehensive victory by 100 runs brought India back into the series, setting up an exciting decider.
