India Seal Series Win Over Afghanistan on Nitish and Samsons Dominance

India clinched the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan with a seven-wicket victory in the second T20I, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead. Batting first, Afghanistan posted 159 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, India chased down the target of 160, reaching 163 for 3 in just 14.5 overs.

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Afghanistan found themselves under early pressure. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck. Captain Ibrahim Zadran, who scored 37, and Sediqullah Atal, who made 12, tried to build a partnership, but their resistance did not last long.

Afghanistan’s middle order came under heavy pressure from young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. Nitish claimed three crucial wickets for 24 runs in his three overs. Towards the end, Rashid Khan smashed a quickfire 28 off 16 balls, while Mohammad Nabi contributed 20 runs to help Afghanistan reach 159.

For India, Arshdeep Singh took two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi picked up one wicket each. Nitish Kumar Reddy was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

Chasing 160, India got off to a flying start thanks to openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. The pair smashed 82 runs during the powerplay. Samson produced an explosive 57 off just 22 balls, hitting seven fours and four sixes. Abhishek Sharma was equally destructive, scoring 39 off 19 deliveries and putting the Afghan bowlers under relentless pressure.

Rashid Khan struck in the seventh over, dismissing both Indian openers in the same over before also removing Shreyas Iyer for 11. By then, however, India had already taken complete control of the match. Ishan Kishan, unbeaten on 38 off 23 balls, and Tilak Varma, unbeaten on 15 off 14 balls, then guided India to victory in just 14.5 overs.

Rashid Khan finished with three wickets for 36 runs for Afghanistan, but his efforts could only reduce the margin of defeat as India comfortably secured the series.
