Pakistan Announce Womens T20 World Cup Squad Under Fatima Sanas Leadership
Pakistan have announced their squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup under the leadership of Fatima Sana. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the 15-member squad for both the upcoming tri-series in Ireland and the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in England and Wales.
At just 24 years old, Fatima will lead Pakistan in the Women’s T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time. She had previously captained the side in the 2024 edition held in the United Arab Emirates. This will be the third Women’s T20 World Cup appearance of her career.
As part of their preparations for the World Cup, Pakistan will participate in a tri-series in Ireland featuring hosts Ireland and West Indies. The series will take place in Dublin from May 28 to June 4, with Pakistan scheduled to play four matches.
Five players have earned their maiden call-up to a Women’s T20 World Cup squad. They are Aiman Fatima, Natalia Pervaiz, Rameen Shamim, Syra Jabeen and Tasmia Rubab.
Pakistan Women recently enjoyed an impressive home T20I series against Zimbabwe. The hosts completed a 3-0 whitewash in Karachi, and the team sees that series as an important phase of their World Cup preparations.
Before the World Cup begins, Pakistan will also play two warm-up matches. They will face Sri Lanka in Derby on June 6 and Scotland on June 9.
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals India in Birmingham on June 14. They will then face South Africa at the same venue on June 17. On June 20, Pakistan will take on Bangladesh in Southampton. Their remaining group-stage opponents are Australia and the Netherlands.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled for June 30 and July 2. The final of the tournament will be held at Lord’s on July 5.
Pakistan Women’s 15-member squad:
Fatima Sana (captain), Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, Aiman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Iram Javed, Muneeba Ali Siddiqui, Nashra Sandhu, Natalia Pervaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Syra Jabeen, Tasmia Rubab and Tuba Hassan.
