Bangladeshs Pride on the World Stage, ICC Names Subhana Mustari Player of the Month

A sparkling run of form in January has brought Subhana Mustari into the global spotlight. The Bangladesh women’s T20 batter underlined her consistency by clinching the ICC Player of the Month award. Her commanding presence in the qualifiers ultimately secured her the prestigious January honour.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Mustari as the Women’s Player of the Month for January. She sealed the award with a series of explosive performances in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. Ireland captain Gaby Lewis and USA pacer Tara Norris were also shortlisted for the accolade. However, the Bangladeshi right-hander outshone her competitors to claim the top prize.

Mustari’s bat spoke confidently and fluently throughout the Global Qualifier. In her first six matches of the tournament, she amassed 229 runs at an impressive strike rate of 145.85 and an average of 45.80. Her aggressive approach played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s unbeaten campaign. Alongside building innings at key moments, she maintained a brisk scoring rate that kept opponents under constant pressure.

Bangladesh secured their ticket to the main event with a 39-run victory over Thailand. Mustari starred in that match with a scintillating 59-run knock, earning the Player of the Match award and registering her highest individual score of the tournament. She followed it up with another vital contribution, scoring 47 against Scotland to guide her team to victory. This string of consistent performances ultimately earned her global recognition as the ICC Player of the Month.
