Australia Seal ODI Series Win Against Zimbabwe as Travis Head Hits Century

Australia sealed a 2-0 series victory over Zimbabwe with an 84-run win in the second ODI at Harare Sports Club, taking an unassailable lead in the three-match series with one game still to play. Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first, but the decision proved ineffective as Australia’s batters launched an aggressive assault.

Batting first, Australia posted a massive 356 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs, powered by a blistering 112 from opener Travis Head off just 84 balls, including 15 fours and three sixes, and a superb 78 from Cooper Connolly. Australian captain Mitchell Marsh also made a valuable contribution with 53 runs. In the death overs, all-rounder Oliver Peake smashed an unbeaten 41 off just 18 balls, helping Australia push beyond the 350-run mark. For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans claimed three wickets, although he conceded 86 runs.

Chasing a daunting target of 357, none of Zimbabwe’s batters managed to produce a substantial innings. Captain Sikandar Raza scored 45 while Brendan Taylor contributed 39, but the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 272 in 48.3 overs. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood, Cooper Connolly, Matt Renshaw and Adam Zampa took two wickets each.

Travis Head was named Player of the Match for his explosive 112 off 84 balls and his effective contribution with the ball.

The third and final ODI of the series will be played at the same venue on September 20.
