The Chattogram Franchise League (CFL) 2026 is set to begin on October 22 at the Chattogram District Stadium, aiming to bring local cricketers back onto the field and reignite cricketing enthusiasm across the region.

The tournament is planned to feature a total of eight franchise teams. As part of the preparations, official player registration opened today. Salahuddin Ahmed, Member Secretary of the Chattogram District Sports Association (CJKS), inaugurated the registration process as the chief guest.

Earlier, a special meeting was held at the Chattogram District Stadium on October 4, chaired by Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir, chief adviser to the tournament committee and a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Representatives from six franchises attended the meeting, where the tournament format and remuneration structure were finalised.

According to the decisions made at the meeting, remuneration has been set at Tk 40,000 for direct-signing players, Tk 25,000 for players in the Premier League category, Tk 15,000 for those in the First Division category, and Tk 10,000 for promising stars from the Second Division and age-group levels.

The organisers said cricketers who participated in the Chattogram Premier League, First Division or Second Division during the last two seasons are eligible to register. An ‘Available Players List’ will be prepared from the registered players, and the franchises will subsequently build their squads through a ‘Players Draft’.

The initiative has generated fresh enthusiasm among emerging cricketers, particularly as regular local leagues have not been held in Chattogram for the past several years. In the previous season, 280 players registered, of whom around 100 got the opportunity to play. CFL officials hope this year’s tournament will once again play a significant role in the overall economic and professional development of local cricketers.
