Controversy has arisen again in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) over the monitoring of players on the field. Following last season’s fixing allegations, the BCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has been more active this year, but some of its actions have sparked criticism.

Sudden ACU Entry into Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s RoomOn Friday, ACU members entered the room of Dhaka Capitals’ Afghan batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz and questioned him. Gurbaz expressed his displeasure over the incident.

On the Gurbaz Issue, Mitu commented:

“I don’t know what the complaint is, but I can say that the Anti-Corruption Unit is working according to their guidelines and within the limits of their authority.”

BCB Director Iftikhar Rahman Mitu stated:

“The Anti-Corruption Unit also has ICC officials, and they are following their guidelines. Just as it happens in the World Cup or other franchise leagues, it is the same here. The Anti-Corruption Unit has been strict, which is why fixing has decreased.”

Mitu added:

“The Anti-Corruption Unit will hold a briefing after the 15th. But in my view, they don’t seize anyone’s phone arbitrarily; it is part of monitoring. They can request my phone at any time as well.”

Regarding Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir leaving the BPL mid-tournament, Mitu said:

“We have requested the contract documents from the Sylhet franchise to see how the deal with Amir was made. However, the Sylhet franchise has assured us that they have paid 75 percent of the amount. They did not continue Amir due to team combination. Now we will review the paperwork. We also hold their security money, so Amir need not worry; he will receive what he is entitled to according to the contract.”
