Sri Lanka has appointed a new batting coach ahead of the T20 World Cup. Former India batting coach Vikram Rathour will now take charge of Sri Lanka’s batting unit.
Rathour previously served as India’s batting coach and was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2024. He is expected to begin working with the Sri Lankan players from January 15.
Sri Lanka will begin their World Cup campaign on February 8 against Ireland, followed by matches against Oman, Australia, and Zimbabwe.
Rathour initially took over as India’s batting coach in 2019, during which India reached the final of the 2023 World Cup. He also served as the batting coach and assistant coach for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 season.
In addition, Sri Lanka Cricket has welcomed back legendary fast bowler Lasith Malinga. He will serve as a fast bowling consultant for 40 days.
