Despite a batting collapse in the second innings against West Indies, Bangladesh managed to set the visitors a target of 170 runs, thanks to a responsible half-century from spin all-rounder Nayeem Hasan. Having secured a 27-run lead in the first innings, Bangladesh set the Caribbean side a target of 170 in the final innings.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s second innings came to an end at just 142 runs. The situation had looked rather grim for the hosts yesterday afternoon. With Bangladesh losing six wickets for just 53 runs, they were in danger of being bowled out cheaply. However, Nayeem Hasan stood firm against the visiting bowlers, putting up a determined fight. He went on to score an unbeaten and patient half-century, marking his maiden Test fifty.

For the visitors, spinners Roston Chase and Jomel Warrican wreaked havoc with the ball. Chase claimed five wickets, while Warrican picked up four, exposing Bangladesh’s struggles against spin bowling.

Despite managing just 142 runs in their second innings, Bangladesh were able to set the visitors an initial challenge of 170 runs with the help of their 27-run first-innings lead. The entire responsibility of securing a victory now rests on the shoulders of the home side’s bowlers.
