Chattograms Dominance in a Commanding 9-Wicket Victory
In a one-sided contest in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Chattogram Royals thrashed Sylhet Titans by 9 wickets. Played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Chattogram asserted complete control with both bat and ball.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Sylhet Titans came under pressure right from the start. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the powerplay. The early dismissals of captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Hazratullah Zazai dented their hopes of posting a big total. At one stage, Sylhet were struggling at 26 for 4, before Azmatullah Omarzai tried to steady the innings. His knock of 44 runs was the highest for Sylhet, but the lack of support from the other end meant they could not build a competitive score. A late cameo by Nasum Ahmed helped Sylhet add some respectability, yet they were restricted to 126 for 7 in 20 overs.
For Chattogram, captain Mahedi Hasan was the most effective bowler. He bowled a disciplined spell and picked up two crucial wickets. Shoriful Islam and Mukidul Islam also maintained consistent pressure.
Chasing a modest target of 127, Chattogram Royals never looked under pressure. Openers Mohammad Naim and Adam Rossington put on a fluent opening partnership, taking control of the chase inside the powerplay. Naim scored an impressive 52 off 37 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes. At the other end, Rossington was even more assured, remaining unbeaten on 73 off 53 balls to guide his team home.
Sylhet’s bowlers failed to mount any real resistance. The only wicket came in the 13.4th over with the dismissal of Naim, but by then the match was already firmly in Chattogram’s grasp. Eventually, Chattogram Royals chased down the target in just 16 overs, losing only one wicket, sealing a comprehensive victory.
