At the start of the new season, Mustafizur Rahman has managed to grab attention across two continents simultaneously. Before returning home from the ILT20 in the United Arab Emirates, his fiery bowling and record-breaking IPL auction have made this period both exciting and busy for the left-arm pacer.
Sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for 12 crore taka in the IPL auction, Mustafizur was also in excellent form in the ILT20. Playing for Dubai Capitals, he took 15 wickets in 8 matches. In today’s match against Sharjah Warriors, his name initially topped the joint list of leading wicket-takers, only to be narrowly surpassed by teammate Waqas Salamkhail, who claimed two wickets. Nevertheless, the consistency he displayed throughout the tournament ensures that Dubai Capitals will surely miss him.
After returning to Dhaka this afternoon, Mustafizur will not have much time for rest. He is set to play his first match for Rangpur Riders in Sylhet on Monday. Following a brief two-day break in Dhaka, he will visit his family home in Satkhira before rejoining the team on Sunday, ready to showcase his renewed form in the BPL.
