Durbar Rajshahi Secures 28-Run Victory Over Khulna Tigers After Two Losses
After two consecutive losses, Durbar Rajshahi finally tasted victory in the ongoing BPL, defeating Khulna Tigers by 28 runs. This victory marked their second win in five matches. Set a target of 179 runs, Khulna Tigers could only manage 150 runs, falling short in their chase.
Durbar Rajshahi posted a challenging total of 178 runs, thanks to solid batting performances from Ryan Burl, Yasir Ali Chowdhury Rabb, and a cameo from Akbar Ali. In just 9 balls, Akbar smashed 4 fours and 1 six, remaining unbeaten on 21 runs. Ryan Burl top-scored with 48 runs off 29 balls, while Yasir Ali made a valuable contribution of 41 runs off 25 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Despite a strong opening partnership between Mohammad Haris (27 runs) and Zishan Alam (23 runs), captain Enamul Haque Bijoy failed, managing just 7 runs off 8 balls. SM Meherb also struggled, scoring only 5 runs off 7 balls before being bowled out by Mehedi Hasan Miraz.
After reaching 100 runs in 13.4 overs, Rajshahi added 78 more runs in just 38 balls during the final overs. Khulna's spinners, Nasum Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, and Abu Haider Rony, took wickets, but couldn't halt the momentum.
In their chase, Khulna Tigers faced early setbacks. Australian opener Will Bosisto was dismissed for just 6 runs in the first over, and captain Miraz followed soon after, scoring just 1 run from 7 balls. Naim Sheikh also struggled, scoring 24 runs off 28 balls.
Afif Hossain Dhruv looked promising with a boundary off the first ball and played some beautiful shots, but his innings ended at 33 runs when he was caught by Zishan Alam off Sohag Gazi’s delivery. Khulna's chase faltered further, and they were eventually bowled out for 150 runs in 19.3 overs, giving Durbar Rajshahi a comfortable 28-run win.
