Tamim Iqbal Undergoes Successful Heart Surgery, Condition Improving
Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal has successfully undergone heart surgery at KPJ Hospital in Savar, where a stent was placed to treat a blockage. Following the procedure, he has been transferred to the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) for further observation. While his condition is improving, doctors have noted that the situation is not completely resolved, and he remains under careful monitoring.
In a press briefing, the medical team at KPJ Hospital provided detailed information about Tamim’s condition. The doctors stated, "We are optimistic that Tamim will recover and return to full health. All necessary treatments have been provided. By the grace of God, his condition is improving. He had a heart attack, which led to an angiogram, angioplasty, and the placement of a stent. The procedure was performed smoothly and efficiently. The blockage has now been completely cleared."
They further explained, "He was in a critical condition earlier, but now he is stable. He is still under observation, and we are doing everything possible to ensure his recovery. It will take some time for the situation to improve fully."
The incident occurred during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at BKSP. Initially, Tamim was healthy when he took part in the toss for the Mohammedan Sporting Club vs. Shinepukur match. However, after returning to the dressing room, he suddenly fell ill. He was immediately taken to the nearby Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital for initial treatment and later returned to BKSP.
As his condition worsened, arrangements were made to transfer him to Dhaka via helicopter for advanced medical treatment. Unfortunately, his condition became more complicated, and he was taken back to KPJ Hospital. After further tests, doctors discovered a blockage in his heart and quickly performed the angiogram, placing the stent. Tamim is currently under intensive care in the CCU and is being closely monitored by a team of specialists.
Fans and the cricket community are rallying behind Tamim, hoping for his swift and full recovery.
