On the day he was left out of Bangladesh's 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad, Litton Das gave a fitting response by scoring a stunning century in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). In a batting paradise, Litton and Tanzid Hasan Tamim's combined centuries led Dhaka Capitals to a massive total of 254 runs, setting a new record for the highest team score in BPL history.
Litton’s century came against the formidable Rajshahi Royals in a spectacular knock of 125*, made off just 55 balls, which included 10 fours and 9 sixes. His strike rate was an impressive 227.27. This was Litton’s first-ever century in the BPL and his first-ever T20 century in a recognized competition.
Despite being dropped from the Champions Trophy squad due to a long period of poor form, Litton had been struggling in the ongoing BPL as well, having been dropped from the XI after failing in the first three matches. However, he redeemed himself by scoring 73 runs in his previous match before this magnificent century.
In the game, Dhaka Capitals' opening pair of Litton Das and Tanzid Tamim dominated the Rajshahi bowlers with a flurry of boundaries and sixes. Tamim also played a crucial role, scoring 108 runs off 62 balls before being dismissed. The partnership between Litton and Tamim produced a remarkable 241-run stand, which is now the highest-ever partnership for any wicket in BPL history.
Litton Das became the fourth batter to score a century in the 2025 BPL, following in the footsteps of Usman Khan, Thisara Perera, and Alex Hales. Tanzid Hasan Tamim also joined the century club in the same match.
Dhaka Capitals also set a new record for the highest team total in BPL history. Their score of 254/1 surpassed the previous highest total of 239 runs set by Rangpur Riders.
