New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr has been named the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year for 2024, a remarkable achievement in her career. She won the prestigious Rachel Heyhoe-Flint Trophy as the ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year after leading her team to their first-ever ICC T20 World Cup title in October 2023 in Dubai.

In 2024, Kerr had an outstanding T20I season, scoring 387 runs at an average of 15.55, and taking 29 wickets. During the World Cup in the UAE, she was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, after taking 3 wickets for 24 runs and 3 wickets for 43 runs in key matches. With 15 wickets at an average of 7.33, she became the tournament's top wicket-taker, while also scoring 135 runs across 6 innings.

Kerr's success wasn't limited to T20 cricket. In 2024, she also had a stellar year in 50-over cricket, scoring 264 runs at an average of 33 and taking 14 wickets. She claimed 4 wickets each against Australia and India.

Kerr outperformed strong contenders for the award, including South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt, Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu, and Australia’s all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, to be crowned as the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.

Reacting to her win, Kerr said, "Winning the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year is a huge honor. I feel like personal awards are not everything for me, but this one is incredibly special."

She added, "I’m happy to have contributed to New Zealand’s success, and I think every cricketer wants to perform hard and make a difference. Many people have helped me achieve what I have, and I’m grateful for all their support."
