Pakistan Head Coach Blames Mirpur Pitch After Heavy Defeat to Bangladesh
Following a crushing 7-wicket defeat to Bangladesh in the T20I series opener, Pakistan head coach has pointed fingers at the Mirpur pitch, suggesting it was a major factor in his team’s poor performance.
The visitors had paid special attention to the notoriously tricky Mirpur surface ahead of the match, but that preparation proved futile as they were thoroughly outplayed by the home side.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Pakistan’s head coach criticized the quality of the pitch, stating,
“This type of wicket is not of international standard. Playing on such surfaces does not help your development. You have the Asia Cup coming up — playing on wickets like this won't prepare you to succeed on bigger stages.”
His remarks echoed a familiar trend, where Mirpur’s unpredictable pitch becomes an easy scapegoat after visiting teams stumble. Whether it was a genuine concern or an excuse, the Tigers had no trouble taming the very same surface.
