Mohammad Kaif picks India T20 squad for world cup

Discussions have begun regarding the Indian T20 squad, with many expressing their opinions on what the squad should look like, including former players' names. The T20 World Cup is set to begin in June, co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States. Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif has selected his preferred squad during a program on Star Sports.

During Star Sports' show "Follow the Blues," Kaif expressed his personal opinions. He believes he knows who will be in India's World Cup squad. He has named Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper and included leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as the fourth spinner. Riyan Parag has made it to the competition alongside Rinku Singh. Kaif stated, "Yashasvi Jaiswal will open with Rohit Sharma. Then, Virat Kohli is at number 3. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya will be at 4 and 5. Rishabh Pant is placed at 6."

"I will keep a few all-rounders because batting depth will be needed. I will say Axar Patel is at number 7, followed by Ravindra Jadeja at 8. Then, Kuldeep Yadav, who is a skillful bowler, will be at number 9. Then, two fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. This is roughly the eleven."

Regarding the squad's next segment, Kaif justified his decision to include Chahal as a leg spinner instead of Ravichandran Ashwin, stating, "If I have to say about the squad, you will keep another spinner. I think you need to keep Chahal. He can play a role as a leg spinner. Ashwin has gone last time. He has not taken many wickets (in IPL). I believe Chahal will emerge as a good bowler in those conditions, where he will get the turn."

Kaif mentioned the rest of the squad members, saying, "Then, I will go with Shivam Dube. He is in great form and plays spin very well. He has moved forward beautifully after the 6th over. I will pick Riyan Parag. He is playing very well and claims a place in the squad. Now, 14 players have been selected. Then, I want Mohammad Siraj's name, although he is not in form. But he is an experienced bowler and has a fantastic record overall."
