The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the squad for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Heather Knight will captain the team for the fourth time in a T20 World Cup. Freya Kemp, Bess Heath, and Danielle Gibson have been selected for their first World Cup.
Of the 15 players announced for the T20 World Cup by the ECB, 12 were part of the England squad for the 2023 World Cup held in South Africa. However, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Kate Cross, and Katherine Sciver-Brunt are not included in this year’s squad.
Wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath, all-rounder Freya Kemp, and Danielle Gibson are set to be part of England’s T20 World Cup setup for the first time. Gibson was part of the squad during the 2023 World Cup as a travel reserve.
Heather Knight will lead the team for the fourth time in a T20 World Cup. However, pace bowler Lauren Filer did not make it into the World Cup squad.
England, placed in Group B, will face Bangladesh on October 5. Before a five-day break, they will play against South Africa on October 7. England’s final two group stage matches are against Scotland (October 13) and West Indies (October 15).
