Before joining Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, Mustafizur Rahman has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals. Now, he will be playing for his fifth franchise in the IPL, Chennai Super Kings, known as "The Fizz".
In his debut match playing for Chennai at the M. Chidambaram Stadium, this renowned Bangladeshi pacer made an immediate impact with his bowling. He showcased exceptional bowling skills, reaffirming his status as one of the best bowling figures in his IPL career.
In the 5th over of Royal Challengers Bangalore's innings, Mustafizur Rahman came on to bowl. Despite starting with a dot ball, he conceded a boundary off the second ball. The third ball was a slower one, which was caught by Chennai's captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni after a brilliant effort from Rachin Ravindra.
Mustafizur didn't stop there. After two dot balls, he took the wicket of Rajat Patidar on the last ball, caught behind by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad brought Mustafizur back to bowl the 12th over. In this over, the Bangladeshi pacer seemed even more formidable. He sent Virat Kohli back on the second ball, caught by Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra in the slip cordon.
Except for a single, Mustafizur delivered a trademark slower ball. The cutter delivery outside the leg stump hit Cameron Green's stumps, sending him back to the pavilion.
In that moment, Mustafizur reaffirmed his status as one of the best bowling figures in his IPL career. Returning in the 17th over, although he didn't take any wicket in his third over, he conceded just 7 runs.
Coming to bowl his final over in the penultimate over, Mustafizur seemed a bit strained. Despite not taking a wicket in that over, he gave away 16 runs, finishing with figures of 4 overs, 29 runs, and 4 wickets.
At the end of 20 overs, Royal Challengers Bangalore halted at 173 runs, losing 6 wickets. In the last 8 overs, they scored 98 runs. Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat formed a partnership of 95 runs off 50 balls to keep their team competitive in the match.
