Having retired from international cricket, Ashwin leaves behind a legacy filled with numerous records and memberships in elite clubs. Here are some of his remarkable achievements:
India’s Second-Highest Wicket-Taker
Ashwin ended his career with 765 wickets, making him the second-highest wicket-taker for India across formats, trailing only Anil Kumble (953).
In Test cricket, Ashwin claimed 537 wickets, second only to Kumble’s 619.

Fastest to 350 Test Wickets
In 2019, Ashwin reached the milestone of 350 Test wickets in his 66th Test match, a record he shares with Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan.
He also holds the record as the fastest bowler to 250 and 300 Test wickets, achieving these in 45 and 54 matches, respectively.
Six Test Centuries and 500 Wickets
Ashwin is the only player in Test history to score six centuries and take over 500 wickets.
He has achieved the rare feat of scoring a century and taking five wickets in the same Test match four times, second only to Ian Botham (5).
Second-Highest Five-Wicket Hauls in Tests
Ashwin has taken five wickets in an innings 37 times in Tests, second only to Muttiah Muralitharan (67).
He has also taken 10 wickets in a Test match eight times, ranking behind Muralitharan (22), Shane Warne (10), Sir Richard Hadlee, and Rangana Herath (9), while being tied with Anil Kumble.
Joint Record for Most Player of the Series Awards in Tests
Ashwin has won the Player of the Series award 11 times in his Test career, sharing the record with Muttiah Muralitharan.
