At the end of this month, India will host Bangladesh for two Test matches, which are part of the ICC World Test Championship. The first Test will begin on September 19 at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, while the second will start on September 27 at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium.
Ahead of the two Tests, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced a 16-member squad on September 8. Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg has selected his preferred playing XI from the squad for the first Test.
On his YouTube channel, Brad Hogg said, "The XI I want to see for India in the first Test against Bangladesh—Jaiswal and Rohit will open, Gill at three, and Kohli at four. Jadeja will bat at number five to maintain the left-right combination. After that, it will be Sarfaraz Khan and Pant, followed by the bowlers. In bowling, I would pick Ashwin, Kuldeep, Siraj, and Bumrah."
According to Brad Hogg, the XI he has chosen would also be ideal for the series against Australia.
"This team will perform well against Australia too. India should start preparing for Australia from now. In my best XI, there is no place for KL Rahul or Axar Patel."
India's squad for the first Test:
Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yash Dayal.
