Imad Wasim reverses international retirement
Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim, who announced his retirement from international cricket in November 2023, has made a comeback following his impressive performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and his renewed interest in the T20 World Cup.
Imad played for Islamabad United under the captaincy of Shadab Khan in the PSL. In the final match against Multan Sultans, Imad achieved the milestone of being the Man of the Match. He contributed significantly with both bat and ball, scoring 23 runs and taking 5 wickets, leading his team to victory. Throughout the tournament, Imad showcased his all-round skills, averaging 21 runs with the bat and maintaining a strike rate of 128.57. Additionally, he took 12 wickets with the ball.
In a recent social media post, Imad expressed his happiness about reconsidering his retirement decision after participating in PCB's official meeting. He stated his readiness to prepare for the 2024 T20 World Cup, aiming to bring glory to his country.
Imad, aged 35, has played a total of 121 matches, scoring 1472 runs and taking 109 wickets. He was also part of Pakistan's squad in the 2006 Under-19 World Cup. His return to the national team is eagerly awaited as Pakistan looks forward to his contributions in future matches. Imad last represented Pakistan in April 2023.
