Saifuddin happy with his bowling
Mohammad Saifuddin returns to the national team after 18 months, delivering an impressive performance at a cost of just 15 runs and claiming 3 wickets, including a four-for. Despite not getting the chance to bat, Saifuddin's contribution with the ball was vital for the team's success. His clear statement reflects his contentment with the team's victory.
In the first T20I of the series against Zimbabwe in Chattogram, Bangladesh secured a significant victory by 8 wickets. Zimbabwe's top-order batsmen appeared helpless against the relentless bowling of the Tigers. After 18 months, Mohammad Saifuddin graces the national team's jersey once again.
How does Mohammad Saifuddin feel about returning to play for the national team after such a long time?
"First of all, Alhamdulillah! Returning to the international field after nearly 18 months was challenging for me. For me, there is no alternative to performing if I want to secure a spot in the World Cup squad. Previously, I missed out on the 2021-22 (actually 2022) World Cup due to my performance at the last moment. So, I was very serious about performing well. I wanted to prove myself."
Regarding his outstanding performance with the ball but not getting a chance to bat, Saifuddin expresses no grievances, saying, "Even our main batters didn't get a chance today. I usually come to bat late in the order, probably at number 8 or 9. I don't really want to bat because I'm usually late in the order. If I get a chance, I'll try to contribute to the team's victory. If I can contribute to the team's victory when given the opportunity, I'll try. I'll try to work on my batting in practice. If I get the chance in the World Cup or similar situations, I'll try to contribute with the bat."
