In the first innings of the Mirpur Test, Bangladesh managed to score only 106 runs, setting South Africa a target of the same amount. In their second innings, however, Bangladesh ended up at 307 runs. The Proteas, who had scored 308 in their first innings, needed just over 22 overs to surpass the target, sealing a comfortable 7-wicket victory before the lunch break on the fourth day. This win puts Aiden Markram's side ahead in the series.

After nearly 11 months, Najmul Hossain Shanto's team faced yet another defeat at the Home of Cricket in Mirpur. Before this, Bangladesh had lost their last Test at Mirpur against New Zealand by 4 wickets in December last year. This marks the third consecutive Test defeat for the Tigers after two defeats in India.

Chasing a target of 106 runs, South Africa started with a solid opening partnership between Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi, scoring 42 runs together. However, Bangladesh's wicket-taking spree began with the dismissal of Markram, who was bowled by Taijul Islam while attempting to defend a delivery. Markram returned to the dressing room after scoring just 20 runs.

De Zorzi found a new partner in Tristan Stubbs, but he too fell shortly after, caught by Hasan Mahmud at long-on off Taijul's bowling for 41 runs. The next blow for South Africa came when Taijul dismissed David Beddingham, who was caught by Liton Das for just 12 runs.

South Africa lost their third wicket at 97 runs, but they were only 9 runs away from victory at that point. Stubbs, having settled in, guided the team to victory alongside Ryan Rickelton without further setbacks.

At the end of the third day, Bangladesh was at 283 runs for 7 wickets, with Meiedi Hasan Miraz being the lone fighter, unbeaten on 87 and awaiting his century. Unfortunately, his wait turned into disappointment as Kagiso Rabada bowled him out for 97 runs, ending Bangladesh’s second innings at 307.
