In a historic moment in Test cricket's 147-year history, England has defeated Pakistan. Pakistan became the first team to score over 500 runs in the first innings and still lose the match by an innings. England won the match by an innings and 47 runs.

In Multan, Pakistan set a massive total of 556 runs in their first innings, with captain Shan Masood scoring 151 and Abdullah Shafique making 102. Agha Salman also contributed with a score of 104. In response, England stunned with their performance.

England amassed a staggering 823 runs in their first innings, achieving this in just 150 overs—a remarkable display of "Bazball" cricket. This is the highest score by any team in a single innings of Test cricket in the 21st century.

Harry Brook scored a triple century, amassing 317 runs, while Joe Root scored a double century for the sixth time, contributing 262 runs.

Trailing by 267 runs, Pakistan came out to bat in their second innings. However, in the first Test of the series in Multan, they found themselves in trouble on the fourth day, losing six wickets for just 151 runs. On the final day of the Test, they were all out for 220 runs in the morning session, without keeping England waiting long.

For Pakistan, losing a match after scoring at least 500 runs in the first innings is not new. They have now lost five matches despite posting such large scores. With this defeat against the English, Pakistan has now gone 11 Tests without a win on home soil, their last victory being against South Africa in 2021.
