New Zealand's opening batsman, Devon Conway, will miss the third Test match against England as he is awaiting the birth of his first child in Wellington this week. To be by the side of his wife, who is expecting, Conway has taken leave from this Test match.
Mark Chapman has been added to the Test squad in place of Conway. Chapman will join the team in Hamilton ahead of the third and final Test. The team reached Hamilton on Wednesday.
New Zealand's head coach, Gary Stead, stated that the team fully supports Conway's decision. "Family comes first in this environment. We are all very excited for Devon and his wife Kim as they await the arrival of their first child."
Regarding Mark Chapman's inclusion, Gary Stead said, "Mark was recently with the Test squad in India. He scored an excellent 276 runs in the Plunket Shield, so it’s a good time for him to join us."
